2006 NPPL Commander's Cup
The 2006 NPPL Commander's Cup was held at the Orange County Fairgrounds about a 30 minutes drive from Los Angeles. This event was well maintained, with a supporters and enthusiastic staff of volunteers and referees. This event was geared towards a high audience turnout, with a permanent covered grandstands that could host several thousand spectators.
The 2006 NPPL Commander's Cup drew some of the greatest professional teams in the NPPL league, including the London Nexus, Chicago Evil, and Sacramento XSV. This event drew some of the largest paintball manufacturers, including Empire Paintball, who were anxious to display their latest products from their lines of guns and gear. As the events at the Cup began to unfold, the Empire show truck rolled in as they unveiled their new "invert" spin-off line of products. Other manufacturers from the industry included Kingman, with their latest markers receiving excellent reviews. Proto also had a display of their new lines of apparel.

Team Dynasty blew into this tournament having dominating the NPPL League for the past four years. Dynasty had been enjoying an easy go of things before they ran into some fierce opposition from tams like the Stockholm Joy Division and they New England Hurricanes. For Dynasty to retain their number 1 ranking at year's end, they would have to play at the highest level. From early on, Dynasty had been trying to play catch up as the XSV came out to have an early lead with wins in Tampa and Huntington Beach. Wins by the Stockholm Joy Division in San Diego also put them in a position to capture the title going into the 2006 NPPL Commander's Cup. Prior to the 2006 NPPL Commander's Cup, XSV held the series lead with Dynasty close behind.
In the semipro division, the series title was in a virtual dead heat between the Miami Raiders, the California Bushwackers, and the Impact. The A-Team was a second level program hoping to achieve a higher ranking with a strong showing in the Cup. The series trophy was the Miami Raiders the Division 1 Circuit, the San Diego Aftermath held a commanding lead over team Fastion. The Dynasty Entourage was having a dominant year in division 2 action, ahead of LTZ's Destiny. In division 3 action, the Misfit Militia and the One-Up Kids had been exchanging control of first place during the year.
The Professional Division.
18 teams suited up for the glory at the NPPL Commander's Cup, the 1st event of the NPPL Season. There was a lot at stake in this big paintball event. The three lowest ranked pro teams would be demoted to the semi-pro division for season 2007. Conversely, the top 3 semi-pro teams would move up the professional class. Also on the line were the series title, which no one had clinched yet, the event win, and cash prizes.
In the preliminary rounds 18 proteams battled each other for the opportunity to advance to the next round. In the Cup finals, Dynasty won the third game in a best of 3 championship to take the event trophy. Dynasty won the finals 94-18 in game three over the Stockholm Joy Division.
