Beam / Inflatable Bunker
The Beam Inflatable Bunker is very low to the ground, and players have to play this bunker on their stomachs. Players who use this bunker must use running and shooting tactics that are different than any other bunker. This is not usually a bunker where players usually shoot actively, this is a bunker whose main job is to aid a player's survival in the game. Beam bunkers are usually between 5 to ten feet long. Players who use the longest Beam bunkers try to use both sides of it, to make themselves less predictable and keep the enemy off balance. The Beam is often combined with other beams or other bunker styles to create more complex shames. For instance, several Beams may be combined to create a Snake. The Snake is offered as a one piece bunker by some manufacturers, but not others. When sets of beams are combined together, they bring a lot of variety and challenges to paintball games. First, is the view of that player from an opposing player as he goes into the snake, compared to a single. When a player goes behind a single Beam the opposing team will know exactly where he is, it is just a matter of when he is going to come out and defend himself. But with the Snake being as long as it is, the opposing player won't know which section of the Snake the player is in at any time. When multiple Beams are combined to create a Snake, it is usually made up of four beams.

The Beam is usually available in three sizes, and all are the same basic width and height. Each team is about 2 and ½ feet high and 2 and ½ feet wide. The size differences are defined by their length. The Medium Bean is about 5 feet long, the Beam is about 7 feet long, and the Giant Beam is about 10 feet long. The Beam is very challenging paintball players in a number of ways. First, players who use this bunker are at a shooting disadvantage. Players who try to shoot from behind this bunker will usually be shooting off-balance, they will be shooting from their stomach from out of the side of the Beam, or they may be shooting from their knees up over the top of the Bunker. Some paintball leagues that use bunkers such as the beam include the American Xtreme Paintball League and the CBXL. Some teams that make the American Xtreme Paintball include the Camillus TNT, the Millford Mettle, Boston Sabres, Atlantic City Aces, and the Lake Placid Vikings.
The Beam bunkers are usually located at the back ends of both sides of the fields, and they are usually an obstacle used by the front men and the tape runner. To use their bunker effectively, paintball players must be fast running up to the bunker and getting behind it. Players must also be fast coming out of the bunker because they will be rising from a laying down position. Front players are more affective using these bunkers if they are athletic and fast.
