Airsoft Vs. Paintball
There are a number of similarities and differences between the sort of airsoft and paintball. There is some controversy among critics as to which sport is better. Paintball has drawn a very large audience in the United States while airsoft is still very popular in countries like Japan, China, and the United Kingdom. While there are some key differences between the two sports, here are some similarities.
As in paintball, airsoft is a sport that is played in large open area, like the great outdoors. In airsoft, a player is hit or tagged with ammo fired from an airsoft gun. The projectile fired from the airsoft gun hits its' target hard enough so that he can feel it, but it does not cause any major injury. While the markers or guns from the two sports are similar, the pellets fired are very different. Airsoft BB's are composed of plastic and do not leave a visible mark on the players clothing. Paintballs, from paintball guns on the other hand explode in a splatter of paint that leaves a visible mark on the body, head protection system, or paintball marker.

The paragraph above details some major similarities and differences in the sport of airsoft vs. paintball. The first major difference if the impact the projectiles have when they hit objects or people. In paintball, it is usually pretty obvious when the player is tagged, as the site of impact is covered in paint. In airsoft, though, there is no visible evidence that a player has been hit. In this way, players rely more on an honor code where hit players will call themselves out. Common methods of an eliminated airsoft player signaling himself out are a player yelling "out!", or raising his hand or gun up in the air.
Both sports place eye safety above all other matters on the fields. Both sports stress the use of face and eye protection as well as a full head protection system. Players from both sports are not allowed onto the field without their eyes, face and ears fully protected. Projectiles in both sports leave the guns at a very high rate of speed and could cause eye injury with out the proper protection.
Both Airsoft and paintball have large scale matches that promote simulations of famous military battles or fantasy battles drawn from historical events and military conquests. In these battles featuring historical events and military conflicts, playe5rs from both sides can live out adventures in heroism, bravery, and teamwork. The jump from total elimination and capture the flag to military and historical simulations is a natural one due to main weapon of each player, the paintball gun and the airsoft gun.
The weapons from both sports place a heavy emphasis on making accurate replicas of real firearms. Airsoft guns are often near identical replicas of actual military firearms, adding to the fantasy of the simulated military conflict. Like airsoft guns, paintball also makes a line of realistic firearms, including the Tippmann 98 custom and the 98 Custom Pro.
